The Jimmy is headed to Langhorne Creek

22 October, 2019

The most fabled trophy in Australian wine, The Jimmy Watson, was awarded on Thursday 17 October at the Royal Melbourne Wine Awards to a humble $20 red blend from Bleasdale Vineyards in Langhorne Creek.

The 2018 Bleasdale Wild Fig Shiraz Grenache Mourvèdre made by winemaker Paul Hotker showcases Langhorne Creek’s ability to produce high quality individualistic wines. The fruit has been nurtured from small parcels into a vibrant, delicious drink.

Not to be outdone, Shaw and Smith have also taken home the Francois De Castella trophy for the 2018 M3 Chardonnay. Affectionately referred to as the ‘White Jimmy’, the Francoise De Castella recognises the best young white wine from the 2017 and 2018 vintages.

These results reflect the hard work, passion and dedication of the vineyard and winemaking teams and further the credentials of Adelaide, South Australia as a Great Wine Capital of the World.
