Software initially developed to safeguard the Canadian poultry industry is being trialled by South Australian wineries in the Barossa and McLaren Vale to help keep pest and diseases out of premium vineyards.

Vinehealth, based in South Australia’s capital of Adelaide, is overseeing the project and has begun a six-month trial at 30 vineyards through the busy vintage period of February to April. High traffic in and out of properties are recorded in real-time, providing an instant visitor record of anyone with a smartphone who has moved across geofences, meaning a rapid response can be actioned in the event of an outbreak.
