Langhorne Creek Triumphs

A cabernet sauvignon from South Australia’s Langhorne Creek has topped a field of 10,000 wines from across the nation and New Zealand to be named the Winestate Wine of the Year 2016.

The award went to Lake Breeze Wines and their Arthur’s Reserve Langhorne Creek Cabernet Petit Verdot Malbec 2012. It gives good reason for locals and visitors alike to explore the Langhorne Creek region, sometimes overlooked in favour of its higher-profile neighbours, McLaren Vale and the Barossa.

“Within the industry it’s (Langhorne Creek) is fairly well-known and regarded but to the general public we fly under the radar a bit because we’re spoilt for wine regions here in South Australia,” Lake Breeze winemaker, Greg Follett said.

“We’ve certainly been punching above our weight in the wine shows for years, so the quality gas always been here.”
