Chinese wine knowledge boosts tourism

Aussie winemakers believe a growing awareness among Chinese consumers about Australia’s many wine regions is leading to gains in sales both at home and abroad.

China imported 41 per cent more Australian wine in the six months to June 2016 compared to the previous year. To cope with the extra numbers, cellar doors including Gemtree Wines in McLaren Vale and Jacob’s Creek at Rowland Flat, have employed Mandarin and/or Cantonese fluent staff to deliver tastings to Chinese consumers.
