Best of Wine Tourism Awards - open for applications

10 August, 2018

All wineries, cellar doors and restaurants have their chance to shine internationally and are being encouraged to apply for South Australia's Best of Wine Tourism Awards.

The Awards, which celebrate excellence and innovation in wine tourism, are part of Adelaide's membership to the Great Wine Capitals Global Network, have seven distinct categories and are open to local wineries and wine-related businesses delivering outstanding service in the wine sector.

Local winners will compete against nominees from the nine other Great Wine Capitals, and both local and international awards will be presented at a Gala Dinner as part of the Great Wine Capitals Annual General Meeting this November in Adelaide from 3 to 9 November.

Chapel Hill winery in McLaren Vale won the local Best of Wine Tourism Award in the Architecture and Landscape category last year.

"To be recognised for finding new, fun and creative ways to attract tourists and ultimately sell our wine has been very rewarding," Chapel Hill Winery Retail and Marketing Manager Bodhi Edwards said.

"The application process was easy and caused us to think deeply about why we do what we do and how we could improve; I recommend it to any winery who has pride in their venue and product."

The Best of Wine Tourism Awards are open to any South Australian winery or wine related business which delivers outstanding service in one or more of the following categories:

  • Accommodation
  • Wine Tourism Restaurants
  • Sustainable Wine Tourism Practices
  • Architecture and Landscape
  • Art and Culture
  • Innovative Wine Tourism Experiences
  • Wine Tourism Services
