Adelaide to host network wine delegates in 2018

13 November, 2017

Adelaide / South Australia will showcase its world-class wine and tourism experiences to international wine delegates in 2018 as it prepares to host the Great Wine Capitals Annual General Meeting.

The AGM will bring global wine industry representatives to Adelaide to learn more about our wine industry, discover our wine tourism offerings and collaborate with network counterparts.

The program will include visits to acclaimed wine regions including Adelaide Hills, Barossa, Coonawarra, Langhorne Creek and McLaren Vale, as well as other experiences such as tours of Adelaide Oval and a dinner at Tandanya.

Newly appointed President for Adelaide, South Australia Jo Collins said Adelaide was perfectly placed to host the Great Wine Capitals AGM in 2018.

“We are home to the National Wine Centre and all national industry representative and research bodies, including Wine Australia, the Winemakers’ Federation of Australia, Australian Vignerons and the Australian Wine Research Institute,” she said.

“Adelaide truly is the wine capital of Australia – we have 18 distinct wine regions, including the Adelaide Hills, Barossa, Clare Valley, Coonawarra, Langhorne Creek, McLaren Vale and Riverland.

“Thanks to the South Australian Wine Industry Development Scheme, wineries across South Australia have been investing in upgrades to diversify their cellar doors – raising the bar of our premium wine tourism experiences on offer.

“Almost 40% of international visitors visited a winery during their stay in South Australia.

“Not only will the delegates discover our wine, but they’ll also be able to experience and explore other tourism drawcards including our wildlife, beaches and award-winning restaurants.”

The 2018 Great Wine Capitals AGM will be held from 3 to 9 November 2018.
